A message for the youngin's itchin' to stack loot
gimme the loot (biggie voice)
My first copywriting client paid $50 a week for 10 hours of work.
Do the math. Not pretty.
But I didn’t care. I was grateful just to be able to get paid to learn a high value skill.
But these days?
Social media has blinded the young.
18-year old millionaires...
High school and college dropouts taking photos with lambos...
Posts with planes, exotic trips, bottles and pretty girls...
All blinding the youth.
“This guy is my age and he’s driving a Lamborghini and making the prettiest of pennies, I need to get on his level. And I need to do it NOW.”
This is dangerous thinking.
I’m only telling you because I fell victim to this thinking once upon a time too. Very F’d up time.
And here’s why…
When you get into the habit of wanting to make it now - especially when you’re young and penniless, you develop a Fd up view of success. You think success comes from something you do. So you’re always searching for trends. Looking for waves to ride. Maybe it’s dropshipping. Maybe it’s Bitcoin. Maybe it’s trading.
It doesn’t matter.
You see some dude who got lucky doing x because x is hot at the time and so you jump on the same boat. And try to ride the waves, thinking if you just do x you’ll succeed.
But that’s a lie.
Sure, you may succeed temporarily…
… but in the long run you’re screwing yourself over nicely.
And here’s why…
Long term success does not come from what you do.
It comes from who you are.
If you spend your foundational years of online business (or just business in general) chasing trends, pursuing one biz model after the next, prioritizing making money over everything else, and taking shortcuts…
… you’re only sabotaging yourself.
Because in the long run? You’re going to be screwed.
When x dries up, you’re going to suffer.
And you’ll grow older with age but will lack the foundation required for long term success (not where you want to be in your late 20s/early 30s).
That’s because…
Success doesn’t just come from what you do (we all know the biz models, we all know the tactics, we all know the strategies).
It comes from who you are.
(Memorize that.)
One of the greatest things I did in online biz as a newbie was saying, “F you” to making short-term “arbitrage” money…
… and doubling down on building real skills in the trenches and mastering time management.
For that laid the foundation for all the big dollars to come.
If I had just jumped from biz model to biz model… but never developed myself… I would probably be working a 9-5 right now trying to make balance sheets, balance.
No BS.
So my message to the youngin’s looking to stack loot is simple:
Stop taking the easy route. Focus on developing who you are before you start fussing about what to do. Put in the reps. And do challenging and uncomfortable tasks to build up your intrinsic value. This will set you up for life and make you rich beyond belief whether you realize it (at the time) or not.
Your friend,
/tej
p.s. View yourself like a company. Turn yourself into a balance sheet with your assets (strengths) and liabilities (weaknesses). Would I invest in this company right now? What about over the course of a lifetime? What’s the return looking like?
Be objective.

Enjoyed this. You’re 💯 percent right.
