8 Journaling Prompts I Use To Get *Unstuck*
Free the mind
One of the easiest ways to increase your output?
Ask yourself better questions (inputs).
I’m not too focused on journaling these days, but whenever I get stuck at a current level of life…
I like to hit the “pause” button on the video game of life, take out a pen and pad, and run through the following 8 questions:
1/ “If I was injected with a needle that made me 10x more fearless/bolder, how would that change how I live my life?”
Most of the time I know what I need to do. I’m just scared to play at that level because it’s uncomfortable.
By asking myself this question, I make a list of 10 actions I would take to quickly move the needle forward…
… and then get busy implementing.
2/ “If I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that everything is rigged in my favor and all that I’ve gone through was needed to take me where I want to go, how would that change how I view my past?”
You cannot move forward if you’re constantly looking back.
Some of us don’t even know we’re doing it.
But we’re still being run by the unconscious from the past.
In order to liberate yourself from the F ups from the past, I like to view reality as an unwinding staircase that is rigged 100% in my favor.
Is this objectively true?
YES, but even if you think it isn’t…
It puts the past in the proper perspective.
3/ “Who would I become 365 days from now if I always kept my word?”
Whenever I get stuck at a level, it’s usually because I’ve stopped living out the truth that I know and have deviated into falsehood.
To get back on track, I define the truths that I already know (starting small) and commit to keeping my word in these areas.
4/ “What are the 20% of my daily habits that are driving 80% of my results and what consequences (if any) do I experience if I stop doing the habits that fall into the 80% bucket?
Most habits are a waste of time… including positive habits.
If I stop doing a positive habit and my life doesn’t get worse in any way, then that’s a habit that I don’t need. Dead weight. So, I get rid of it. And free up more space to double down on the 20% of habits/actions that are producing 80% of the results.
5/ “If all mighty God was placed in my body with these current circumstances and problems, how would he approach it?”
Opens up new perspectives, breakthroughs, and quantum insights for better navigating through the current season/level.
Usually I realize:
I wouldn’t move with such dread and heaviness, but ease and delight and playfulness.
For the problems aren’t bigger than me.
6/ “Where am I meeting this moment from?”
From the freshness of now or past conditioning (through outdated identities)?
If it’s the latter, then how can I expect something new to arise when I’m constantly using the outdated ingredients of yesterday to cook today’s meal?
7/ “If I had to achieve my 12 month goal in the next 30 days, how would I go about it and why aren’t I doing that now?”
Sometimes it’s not practical to make 12 months of progress in 30 days for you may make too many mistakes that cost you everything.
But sometimes it is practical and stepping your foot on the gas pedal is exactly what you need to do to unlock greater fortune.
8/ “How would I live my life if this was it and nothing was ever going to change (for the better)?”
I notice we have a tendency to constantly hope for a better tomorrow which keeps us stuck in the future (and disconnected from our true power which can only exist now). Whenever I ask myself: “What if nothing changes?” I experience a weird sense of peace overtaking me and greater grounding in reality which changes where I’m meeting the moment from and ultimately the results I generate.
So there you have it.
Those are the 8 questions I use to get unstuck and move up levels in the video game of life.
